Coronavirus (COVID-19) Outbreak: Immediate Action in Our University

At the moment, there are no known cases of infection or even suspected infection in the bbw Hochschule - University of Applied Sciences. Based on latest information coming from the Senate Chancellery of Higher Education and Research, the bbw Hochschule - University of Applied Sciences will immediately implement the measures that are provided for all scientific institutions in Berlin in order to prevent the spread of the disease.

This includes the postponing of the official semester start to the 20th of april 2020. Moreover, no conferences, meetings or major events of any kind will be held until the 20th of july 2020. The planned colloquia will take place if the current risk situation and feasibility is safe according to the standards of the Robert Koch Institut (RKI). The daily administrative and scientific operation however will continue and the library will stay open for the time being.

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Gebhard Hafer, rector of the bbw Hochschule - University of Applied Sciences, states: "We will do everything so our students can finish their studies within the standard time. This includes varying forms of learning and the temporal shift of planned lectures and seminars into the coming summer semester. Additionally to the wider use of eLearning we will start to offer lectures and seminars as online-versions. The goal is to offer the students the possibility to take part in courses from their home. All institutions of the college administration can be reached as usual. All students have been informed. All those interested in studying - whether from Germany or abroad - will be kept informed about the start of the new semester.
