With an almost completely
modernised bachelor degree programme in the field of Business Sciences, the bbw Hochschule - University of Applied Sciences - is starting the winter semester. Thus, both study contents, and the study structure are adapted to the need of the economy, current industry developments, expected trends and more convenient curriculum. Specifically, even three degree programmes have even been renamed because their focus changed. Thus, with immediate effect study starters can now register for the new Bachelor degree programme "
Tourism Management" and not as previously for "Tourism and Event Management". The topic "Media Management" is now extended by "Event Management". The new degree programme is now called "
Media and Event Management". Our future economists with the specialisation "Trade Management" receive an update with the digitalisation topic "eCommerce" an update, which also becomes clear in the course designation. They are now studying "
Trade Management and eCommerce".
An update was due for all degree programmes in the area of "Business Sciences", including "
Health Management", "
Fashion Management" and "
Real Estate Management", some of which have already been part of our university's programme for around 10 years. The impulse for it gave the current scientific knowledge for the digitalisation of the working world, but also the course advisors of our university, which formulate future requirements from the perspective of the enterprises to the graduates of a study programme.
Another important formal change also affects all of our university's bachelor's degree programmes: It is new that, with immediate effect, the basic studies are followed by the so-called application studies, which was previously called special studies at our university. This will enable us to adapt to other universities in the future. Structurally, from now on, the modules of the application studies will not only be integrated into the curriculum with the second or third semester, but already with the first semester. This should make connections between basic and advanced or specialised knowledge clearer for students.
All changes have already been approved by the Berlin Senate. They exclusively concern the new degree programmes. Applicants are informed about all changes. The Master's programmes are offered unchanged.
