The bbw Hochschule Summer School offers intensive short study courses for undergraduate and postgraduate students, taught to the same high standard as our degree programmes by our faculty of industry experts. Join the bbw Summer School not just for new academic challenges but to experience a thrilling cosmopolitan adventure!
You will study with our lecturers who are experts in their academic fields but also have extensive practical experience and industry networks. At bbw you will have the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of cutting-edge research and technology while studying alongside students from a range of backgrounds and cultures. You will not only further your academic skills but also have the opportunity to form friendships and international networks.
We offer two sessions that each last two weeks, with teaching in the mornings and afternoons, as well as company visits and cultural excursions. Our small seminar sizes between 10-20 students allow you to engage directly with academic staff and enhance your critical engagement with your chosen subject.
bbw Summer School is open to international and German undergraduate and graduate students of any study program. Students should be interested in the above-mentioned topics and should be willing to engage in group work and discussions with students from all over the world.

I wanted to spend my summer learning something new while also traveling, and the bbw Summer School was the perfect choice. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and should have completed at least one year of higher education at their home institution. Please note that credits can only be awarded if you are currently enrolled at a university or college.
The number of students per course is limited. Please note that a course will not be offered if fewer than 10 students apply. In case the maximum number of participants is exceeded, applicants will be placed on a waiting list and notified if a place becomes available.
Please note that the bbw Summer School program is limited to two weeks and that acceptance does not imply admission to any other program of bbw University of Applied Sciences.
All sessions are taught in English, applicants need to submit a B2 level English language certificate or higher, unless they are native English speakers or study a programme taught in English at their home university.
In that case one of the following certificates is required:
Invoices are sent with the confirmation of acceptance by 05.05.2025 and must be paid within 14 days. After we have received your payment, you are officially registered for bbw Summer School.
Places on the courses will be given on a first-come, first-served basis, so register as soon as possible.
Applicants who wish to participate in both sessions will be given priority.
Cancellations of reserved places will attract the following cancellation fee:
If you cancel your registration or your reserved place before May 19 2025, you will not be required to pay the program fee. If you cancel your reserved place on/after May 19 2025 and before June 15 2025, only 50% of the program fee is refundable.
If you cancel your reserved place on/after June 16 2025, no program fee is refundable.
We require you to inform yourself in detail before your departure about your insurance coverage abroad and, if required, to take out the relevant insurances (health insurance, accidence insurance and liability insurance). Please be aware that participants of the bbw Summer School are not insured by bbw University of Applied Sciences and the university does not assume any liability. Thus, participants are responsible for their own health, accident and liability insurance.
EU students must bring evidence of their health insurance for their travels. Please ask your health insurance company at home if your complete stay in Germany is covered by them. Usually, you do not have to take on an additional health insurance policy, but you can obtain a "European Health Insurance Card" (EHIC) or equivalent from your insurer.
Our Summer School courses are equivalent to 5 ECTS, which amounts to an overall workload of 125 hours, with 80 contact hours and 45 hours of preparation and self-guided study. Recognition of credits depends on your home university, please contact them directly to discuss this with them. We are happy to provide any necessary information to your Study Abroad office or academic advisors.
To receive a certificate, students are expected to attend teaching for the entire programme, actively participate and submit any required assessments.
Credits are awarded only when the course has been completed, all requirements have been fulfilled, and assessments have been passed successfully.
Certificates will be issued at the end of the respective summer school session.
